Healthy Holiday Recipe for Your Teeth

He came across a Holiday Recipe that he feels his nutritionist friends would feel is almost as healthy, as it is tasty. The picture shows the ingredients. Any ideas why it is as good for you as it is healthy?

The ingredients speak for themselves, says Dr. Marks, - whole grains, nuts, ginger, dried fruits, whole wheat, and walnut oil. The main ingredient of apples can be Granny Smith, but any crisp or tart type apple will do, as would pears (Anjou), or a combo of both. And what would this delectable concoction be…

It would be Holiday Apple Crisp! This recipe is good for 12 hungry mouths, and the calories per mouth is only 300.

The Filling:

Half-cup syrup (maple)
Half-cup cranberries (dried) or raisins or both
Two tblspoons lemon juice (fresh is better)
One tblspoon ginger (crystallized, candied, or minced)
Two tblspoons flour (all purpose)
Three lbs any of the above apples or pears (thin sliced or peeled)

Toppings:

1.5 cup rolled oats
.5-cup nuts (pecans, hazelnuts, walnuts, or any other- or a mixture
.5-cup sugar (brown)
Third of cup whole-wheat flour
.5 tsp cinnamon (ground)
Third of a cup any nut oil (walnut, canola)

Directions:

1. Preheat to 350 degree
2. Mix filling in large bowl. Pour into 9” x 13” baking dish
3. Mix topping with your hands & sprinkle over filling in the baking dish
4. Bake for 45-50 min. or until apples are golden brown. Wait 10 min before serving.
